Day 47, August 22nd, 60.62km and 393m climb, Upper Whitefish Lake campsite to Columbia Falls RV Park
After a slightly restless night due to some kids playing with the bear boxes in the middle of the night, we headed off downhill. And downhill it predominantly was aside from the uphills! 40km of beautiful Montana forest took us all the way to Whitefish where we restocked before continuing on to Columbia Falls. On the road today we saw a man with a handgun hopping out of his truck to go berry picking (we assume the gun was for bear protection as he did ask us if we'd seen any), numerous deer lounging around on people's lawns, traffic lights in Whitefish, a library with no toilets and the biggest sub sandwich you will ever see!

Today was also quite hot with temps in the mid 30s by early afternoon. Despite this we pushed on as Whitefish was expensive and busy. We scored an $18 tent site at the RV park in Columbia Falls and like it so much we are going to stay 2 nights. It has an air-conditioned laundry with chairs and books, the cleanest endless hot water showers and the nicest people. Why not stay 2 nights! Tomorrow we will sleep in, wander into town and check out the river.Sometimes it's the little things that count!
