We ride Salsa Fargo bikes which we have modified to suit our needs. The original bike is a steel framed, drop bar, gravel bike but we have cut the frames and added a pinion gear box in each. As we can't run drop bars with the pinion, we have added Jones bars to enable the grip shifters that work with the Pinion. The Pinion has a 600% range so a big range for nasty uphill and fast downhills.

To the Jones bars we have added Ergon grips for comfort. The seats are both Ergon SMC gel. We have also added Redshift suspension seat posts to both which softens the ride substantially.

We are running Maxxis Ikons front and rear with 2.6 on the front and 2.35 on the rear. That was the most we could get on the rear due to clearance.

On the front of Jill's bike is the Revelate Sweet Roll 15l and Egress Pocket, a Revelate Mountain Feedbag, a Tour Aotearoa 2016 specialty feedbag and an Apidura tank bag. On the forks she has two Salsa Anything racks. On one side she carries the tent and on the other side a dry bag with the tent poles, ground sheet and tent pegs as well as a 1l water bottle.

Jill has an Ortleib frame bag size small, a Revelate toolkit, and two Ortleib gravel panniers on the rear. On top of the rack is a 13l Sea to Summit dry bag with wet weather gear in it. Sandels are strapped to the top of this along with the ability to carry a further 3l of water. There are two 1l water bottles on either side of the frame bag. This, plus a 500ml bottle in one of the feedback gives a normal water capacity of 6.5l.

Gordon has a Revelate harness and sweetroll at the front and two Salsa anything racks with two Salsa dry bags containing his wet weather gear.

He also has two feedbags the same as Jill, an Apidura tank bag, an Ortleib frame bag, Ortleib gravel panniers, Revelate tool kit and a Sea to Summit dry bag.

We both have small Ortlieb bags under our seats carrying water treatment equipment and tools.
