Day 44, August 19th, 33.1km and 774m climb, Grave Creek campsite to Tuchuck campsite
It's getting darker in the mornings now so our 6am wake up call almost needs a light. Perhaps we will just sleep in longer. Today we crossed the Divide again, climbing to around 1800m over Whitefish Pass.
We got away well before 8am and were happy to get the climbing mostly done throughout the morning while it was still cool. The smoke from the Weasel Fire is pretty heavy in the air but fortunately the road we travelled today skirts the closed area and we have been able to get through.

Gordon had a tough day today so we were happy to pull into the Tuchuck Campsite for a late lunch and quiet afternoon. It is so peaceful here. We are surrounded by trees and can hear only the river and the birds. We are the only people here aside from our French Canadian friends who are traveling at a similar pace.

Late last night 3 riders pulled into our campsite with plans to ride all the way to Whitefish which we think will take us another 2 to 3 days. Ahhh, we are enjoying the leisurely pace! It is nice to meet all these riders as they whizz past though. Everyone has their own goals and expectations and every single person has their own motivation for their particular approach. None are right or wrong, just different.

We may take a detour to Polebridge tomorrow. It is slightly off the route but a couple of people have recommended we go there so we think we will.
