Day 21, Another glorious day of downhill

Day 21, July 27th, Farron stealth camp to Castlegar, 56km and 88m climb

We were on the road by 6am today. Our stealth camp was comfy but the mozzies were a bit harsh so we packed up and rode 10km before stopping for breakfast just before the longest tunnel of the ride. We  needed lights for this one which was quite exciting! At 900m long with a slight bend in it, it was definitely dark.

Once through the tunnel the ride continued down. 40km of it was, in fact, down with some stunning views. We made quick time of it, arriving at the end of the Columbia and Western rail trail at about 1030am, just in time for morning tea.

We booked into a lovely wee campsite and spent the afternoon trying to stay cool as the temperature hit 38 degrees. Later in the day a couple of bikepackers arrived who are doing pretty much the same route as us. They  started about 7 days behind us so are a wee bit quicker. They are heading to South America eventually on a budget of 15 Euros per day. I don't know how they do it as the price of food here is crazy! Perhaps my need to bribe Gordon with the promise of coffee is our downfall.
