Day 7, 13 July, 55.7km and 900m climb, Sunshine Valley to E.C Manning Park

Another lovely day today, a little cooler than yesterday which was nice. We got up with the sun this morning so as to avoid the heat. It is light at around 4.30am so it was an early start. This also meant much lighter traffic for the first couple of hours which was also very nice.

Scenery today was trees and some mountains, long flowing streams and cliffs. Great terrain for bears but none spotted. We have seen a gopher, several squirrels and some blue coloured birds!

Quite a long climb today up to 1270m above sea level and as we are still finding our legs, it's been a big couple of days. Gordon is doing well but struggling at the end of the day so we continue to take plenty of breaks.

Tonight we are in E.C. Manning Park which seems to be the equivalent of a national park in NZ. We are staying in a park campsite tonight, sharing with 2 French Canadian cyclists who we met on the road yesterday. Same price for 4 as it is for 2! They are from Toronto and have been on the road for 2 months already tripping all over Canada on their bikes.
