Day 8 heat and hills

Day 8, 14 July, 65km and 641m climb Manning Park to Princeton.

Another scorcher of a day today! 32 degrees and very little shade. We will be very pleased to get off highway 3! It's a very noisy and busy road. It's still been a pretty safe road to ride though. We'd been warned that it was very narrow with tight corners and I'd visualized State Highway 6 north of Murchison. Apparently the Canadian idea of narrow and tight is a predominantly 4 lane highway with a massive sealed verge! We are not complaining!

The road today was more down than up but the ups were doozy's! We started with forested river and ended with more ranch and mining terrain. There was a huge mine that we could see in the distance that I'm interested to find more out about tomorrow.

Tonight we are sharing a campsite with our French Canadian friends again in the municipal campground next to the river. I treated us to hot dogs and Caesar salad for dinner by the river. Day off tomorrow. After 5 solid days in the saddle we are both ready for a rest although I am definitely feeling fitter. Gordon's bum is still causing him grief too so a break from the saddle is well deserved.
