Day 44 Pacific Sojourn, May 30, Satuiatua to Salelaloga, 58km
Our earliest start yet! On the road before 9am! Today was sunny and warm with the highlight being the Alofaaga Blowholes. We could have sat there watching for hours but within 30 minutes, crowds of people started arriving so we decided to push on. The road wound through copra, taro and banana plantations as well as small villages and some larger ones too. It was pretty steady riding. Despite the fact that we are on e bikes, we don't actually ride any faster than on our ordinary bikes!

We are staying just up the road from the ferry which we will take back to Upolu tomorrow morning before riding to Apia. Leu and Winnies Garden View Motel is our first night in a motel with a bathroom and air conditioning. Basic would be a good description. For those of you contemplating a holiday in Samoa, be aware, it's not cheap. The beach fales are around $NZ50 per person per night but do include dinner and breakfast. Expect rustic facilities. This motel is the same price but does not include meals. You cannot camp anywhere as the land is all owned by the villages. So, the cheapest is $NZ100 per night for 2 people. You can purchase food at the wee village stores but expect a lot of junk food, and bread if you are early enough. Fruit you can buy from road side stalls. Our favorite local junk food is the 10 pack of taro, breadfruit or banana chips!
