Days 35 - 36, Pacific Sojourn, May 21 - 22, winding down
Our last couple of days working at Outdoor Samoa have arrived. Lots of cleaning and tidying around the place in preparation for Ross and Frances' return. A couple of swims and a good test of the bikes we are taking on our own tour have kept us occupied along with the usual pick ups and drop offs of clients heading off in all sorts of directions.
Our ride was great. Sunday is a lovely day to ride as the roads are super quiet and even the dogs seem to be satisfied. Probably hanging around with the umu creators from early in the morning. Sunday umu gets put in at around 4am by all accounts!
We explored further into the hinterland on our ride. There is a youth prison about 5km away from us and we headed in that direction before veering off down some quiet 4wd tracks and popping out on the coast road about 10km from the Centre. The countryside is a mix of jungle, taro plantation and remote houses. Even back here though, many of the houses take pride in their gardens and roadside. The Women's Institute clearly has a long reach. Apparently if your garden is not kept pristine, they will pay you a wee visit!
So, our bikes are ready, our panniers packed and we are ready to go. This will be our first tour on e bikes so watch this space for how we get on!
