Days 14 and 15, Pacific Sojourn, April 30th and May 1st, tour support amongst other things

What a busy couple of days! Yesterday was predominantly spent supporting a group heading off on the Upolo Escape. This is a supported cycle tour of Upolu and this small group were combining kayaking with cycling and snorkeling. They also had a 23 month old with them so having a support vehicle was a must. The wee one rides in a weehoo and was loving, waving to everyone as they rode by. Our job was to drive the van, give them a ride up the very steep hill between their start point and accommodation and make sure they were happy riding. It all went very well and they made it to their accommodation right on the beach in time for a late lunch. Jyrus (head mechanic and all round good guy) and I headed back to base in time for a swim and an early finish.

Today was intended to be an office day for me but turned into a mad dash across the island after guide Jessie and Gordon who were taking yesterday's group on the Turtle Kayak tour, forgot the key to the kayak shed! So off I went to deliver the key before devouring back through Apia to pick up a bed base that Ross had bought on Saturday. In my rush to get the keys across the island, I forgot to take the bike rack off the back of the van and didn't have the Allen key. The shop (which is a hardware shop) tried to tell me they didn't have any Allen keys which I refused to believe so they finally brought one out and we removed the rack and got the bed in. Bit of a giggle on my part but we got there in the end! Back to base and on with a few chores in what was left of the day. It was about a 100km drive all up and the air con is a bit marginal in the van so it was nice to be back at base even though it's actually hotter here! We've been working on replacing the big wall maps of the two islands and finally got the new ones up today. So lots going on and not a lot of photos except for this great one of a load of jungle knives (machetes) heading out the door at the hardware shop today.
