Day 9, Pacific Sojourn, April 25, Falealupo to Satuiatua, 37km

We slept pretty well last night and woke to another lovely day. After breakfast of pancakes, French toast and fruit, we headed off for the day. The first part of the ride wound along the coast on a sandy track before we started climbing back to the main road. Today could be described as undulating but most people in the group managed it really well. We stopped a couple of times in the shade to recover from the climbs, view the rock arch and look at Lovers Leap but other than that it was cruisy riding all the way to Satuiatua Beach fales in time for lunch.

This afternoon we had a special treat though with our Samoan guide Lau preparing an Umu for us. We got to watch and take part in the preparation and then had a delicious feed of number 2 pig (I will never look at a pig again without trying to decide what size it is!), taro, coconut fish and taro leaves wrapped up in coconut cream (handmade coconut cream too!).

We are now relaxing in our fale again right on the lagoon. We did manage a quick snorkell in the lagoon but the tide was very low so we could only skirt the edge of the Reef. Still loads of fish and luminescent coral.
