Days 25 and 26, vanlife,  February 13 and 14, Clutha Gold Trail

Day 25 was a quiet one with just a walk for me and a ride for Gordon. We also did a few things to get ready for our next ride. Day 26 we headed south, firstly to Roxburgh where I finished off the Roxburgh Gorge Trail with an in and out before heading south on the Clutha Gold Trail.

This end of the Roxburgh Gorge Trail was quite different to the top end. Instead of traveling alongside the river, the trail mostly went along the top of the river bluffs. There was a fair amount of climbing with switchbacks to make the climb more manageable. Super views across the Gorge and Lake Roxburgh but very exposed riding.

Once back at the Roxburgh Dam, it was onto the Clutha Gold Trail. This Trail is superb,  meandering alongside the Clutha River which has lovely shady willow, kanuka and pine trees along muchnof it. Given that it was 27 degrees today, I was happy for the shade. Gordon joined me for 20 odd kilometers of the route but is having challenges with his bum again. Same challenges as in North America but now that we are in the van, he can ride what he is comfortable with. Today he relocated the van down to a wee campground at Miller's Flat which is about half way along the trail. 60 kilometers done today, tomorrow I'll ride the rest of the trail and Gordon will ride back to meet me from the end.
