Day 24, vanlife, February 12, the Roxburgh Gorge Trail

The day started with an 8km hike into the hills above Alexandra for some great views across the basin and then it was time for a quick blat down the upper section of the Roxburgh Gorge Trail. The Roxburgh Gorge Trail is in three section. The middle section is a 12km jet boat ride that is apparently gorgeous but a little outside our budget at present. So we decided to start by doing a return trip down the top section and we'll follow up with the bottom section later in the week.

It's a gorgeous grade 2 Trail following the Clyde River south. The colours are incredibly dramatic with the brown hills, green trees lining the Gorge and the blue of the river. Just stunning. It's a 24km return trip and today had very few people on it. I stopped to chat with a couple of locals who were out on their e bikes sitting on their portable chairs enjoying a cup of tea in the shade about half way along. They were enjoying the cruisy nature of the trail as a regular outing for exercise.

We are hoping to tick off the last few cycle trails we have yet to do around the country as well as repeat a few of our favorites. I get the feeling we may not have enough time though!
