Days 19, 20 and 21, rest and recovery!

Days 19, 20 and 21, vanlife, February 7-9, Ardlussa to Alexandra to Queenstown

It's been three days of recovery really. After our big walk, we've been pretty quiet. We took in the Avatar movie in Queenstown, did some washing, Gordon and Sally went for a mtb ride at Flat Top near Alex, and I went walking. Today Sally and Gordon drove Sally's 4x4 through the Nevis Road while I drove round to collect Gordon at the other end. Sally has now headed home and is back to work tomorrow. Gordon and I are parked up alongside Lake Wakatipu with plans to do the Coronet Trail near Queenstown tomorrow. We had planned to do the Welcome Rock trail up on the Nevis but it was windy and cold and was going to cost us $46 to do. While we totally understand that trails on private land can legitimately charge for access, we struggle a little when there are so many trails that are just as good that we can access for free or for a donation. I also struggle with it when the price is $20 per person but there is a $6 service fee on top of that! We've decided we will do the free trails first and look at paid trails later.

Ah well, it's a beautiful evening and we are right on the lakefront. Just gorgeous.
