Days 182 and 183, January 3rd and 4th, San Diego and Leucadia
January 3rd and the weather was wet and windy. We had a quiet day at the motel with only a brief outing to wander through the local shops looking for one of those $6 red, white and blue laundry bags we can buy back home to load all our touring bags into. Such a thing does not seem to exist in this country so we might have to resort to cardboard boxes! Other than that it was reading books and staying dry.

Today (January 4th), it was time to hit the road again. We have been enjoying the public transport system immensely and managed to negotiate the system 40km to the north to Leucadia where we have a motel close to the beach for a couple of nights. On arrival we were able to check in early before wandering off to explore the neighborhood. We chucked a couple of frisbees in the bag but the tide was in and the beach is not a big sandy beach like some, but a mixture of small boulders and very soft rock that has some beautiful patterns running down to the water. We walked a couple of kilometers along the beach before the incoming tide suggested it was time to head up the cliffs before we got wet.
Tomorrow is forecast for rain again so may be another quiet one but it will be nice to get out on the beach again after being a bit cooped up in the city.
