Days 162 and 163, December 14th and 15th, Fountain of Youth RV Park and Spa
While yesterday was a pretty typical FOY day comprising a 10km walk/run, stretch and strengthen class, hot pools and a game of corn hole (throwing beanbags into a hole from a distance), today was a little bit different.

It started with a 12km group hike up into the Chocolate Range behind the campsite. Beautiful, rugged single track along with views out over the Salton Sea and surrounds. We saw what we think was a wolf as well which was pretty cool.
As soon as we got back from the hike, we hit the road to Palm Springs with Rod and Nora who had kindly offered to drive us up there to pick up our rental car. We stopped first in our favourite little town of Mecca to go to the bakery as well as the wee Mexican Restaurant in town. It was excellent as hoped and we may well visit again!
From there it was up to the Palm Springs Airport to grab the car. We think we've been given an upgrade as we walked away with a VW Tiguan which will easily fit the bikes. This will make life much easier!
Palm Springs is about 100km from FOY and while I was happy to ride up to get the car, going with Rod and Nora meant that Gordon could come too. A quick stop at Walmart for our favorite trail mix and then it was back to FOY. We saw no golf course in Palm Springs and no music festival in Coachella, but we did see several private jets and some luxurious rental cars at the airport!
