Day 123, car spotting!

Day 123, November 6th, 45.3km and 510m climb, Corona del Mar warmshowers to San Clemente Inn

We started inadvertently early this morning! The clocks changed again so we're not quite sure if we're Arthur or Martha at the moment! The sun came up so we got up, had some breakfast and departed from our lovely warmshowers hosts before 8am. Of course that meant that the sun was gone by 5pm and it was dark by 5.30!

Today was more undulating than the past two days but had more lovely beach sections and beautiful weather to keep us occupied. We had thought we'd get through to Vista today but Gordon was not feeling up to a big push and I must admit I was happy to follow suit.

We headed up to a state park campground thinking that it would be good to be back in the tent. Unfortunately, both the ranger and the camp host warned us that leaving our bikes out, even locked, was potentially risky. So we bit the bullet and booked a hotel. The campsite was going to be $50 for the night and it wasn't too much more for the hotel so overall a good choice to feel safe.

The fun part about today was the cars. As we rode through Laguna Beach, Dana Point and San Clemente, we saw more luxury cars in one day than we've seen in our entire lives we think! A sunny Sunday afternoon and they were all out and about: Bugatti, Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari, and more Teslas than anything else. Gordon thought he saw a Toyota but I think he was dreaming. Lots of fun car spotting!

Off to Vista tomorrow to catch up with an old friend and hopefully avoid some rain.
