Day 122, November 5th, 64.5km and 209m climb, Torrence warmshowers to Carona del Mar warmshowers host
We had a late start this morning but really enjoyed John's pancakes for breakfast! He then rode the first 15km of the route with us before heading home again. Hopefully we'll catch up again when we are back in LA in January.

After parting ways with John, the route took us from suburban LA out to Long Beach where we enjoyed more coastal bike paths for much of the day. There were a couple of stretches of busy road but generally the shoulders were good and we survived those unscathed. The bike paths once again took us through the wild and wonderful from the tragedy of multiple homeless dwellings to the wacky folk along the bike paths. You know you are in interesting territory when the Jehovahs Witnesses are the most normal looking people around!
The highlight of the day though occurred this evening. We are staying with another Warmshowers host but the condition of us staying was we joined them at a chamber music concert! We were privileged to spend the evening at the University of California Irvine campus listening to a maestro violist accompanied by a pianist and violin at times as well. Absolutely brilliant (even if I was wearing my cycling shoes!).
