Day 121, November 4th, 52.3km and 211m climb, Inglewood to Torrence warmshowers via Santa Monica
Finally we are back on the bikes and what a lovely way to get back on, 50km of virtually flat riding along the beaches of Los Angeles including the Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, Marina del Rey and Hermosa.

After dropping off the van (with only 200 miles over our 100 mile per day limit much to our pleasure!), we negotiated the busy roads around LAX and out to the coast. Once on the coast we followed the designated bike path up to Santa Monica Pier for a look-see before turning back round and heading south toward our Warmshowers host.
We saw volleyball games on the sand, muscle men strutting their stuff on the gym equipment, roller bladers and skaters, skateboarders, surfers and a whole lot of people out walking or riding bikes. To be honest though, it was actually pretty darn quiet. The beaches were pretty much deserted despite the gorgeous weather and the bike path was not really that busy. It was a lot of fun people watching and enjoying the beach, the warm weather and the scenery.
Our Warmshowers host John rode out to meet us and we enjoyed a coffee in Hermosa before riding back to his place. John's daughter Shay is a chef and whipped up a gourmet meal of salmon, rice and veges for us for dinner. We've been really spoilt this evening!
Tomorrow we continue further south on the Adventure Cycling Association's Pacific Coast route toward San Diego.
