Day 116, the Grand Canyon Part 1

Day 116, October 30th, Lake Powell to Grand Canyon Village

Today was a little confusing as we couldn't figure out what time it was! Yesterday we crossed into Arizona and our clocks changed, but then they changed back. Same thing happened today! Turns out Arizona recognizes daylight saving but the Navajo Nation doesn't so it seems to depend a little on which cell phone tower you are picking up on as to what time it is!

We eventually settled on a mutually agreed time and hit the road via the Glen Canyon Dam and a 31 mile back road toward the Grand Canyon.  We entered the Park and almost immediately got our first views of the Canyon.  Gordon was stoked. This really has been a bucket list item for him and I think it lived up to his expectations.

The colours, the depth, the perspectives were all stunning. Photos never do justice to these aspects. If only we could take them in 3D and hypercolour. Still, I guess that's why we come to these places in person!

We have decided to stay two nights so will spend tomorrow wandering around this southern and western edge of the Canyon.  We might even break out the bikes to explore as well. We will be in no rush in the morning though, it is forecast to get down to minus 6 tonight!
