Day 110, October 24th, Slickrock Moab to Courthouse Rock BLM campsite

What a fascinating day we had today. We were up early and headed off to Arches National Park where we spent the day wandering through rocks, canyons, arches and creeks. The geology of the park is incredible with several different geological layers that break down over time to expose the buttresses, create canyons and form the arches.

At the very first stopping point I realised I had been here before and had taken a photo of this exact spot 30 years ago. That photo has been on my wall at home until fairly recently. I took photos again today in the hope of recreating that faded photo from my past. See the first photo on this page.

After visiting the park and getting our step count up sufficiently to qualify as exercise, we headed a few miles out of Moab to camp. Adjacent to the campsite is a recently discovered set of fossilized dinosaur prints from the crustacean period. Fist time I've seen such prints and it did feel a little jurassic park like!

This morning we woke to fresh snow all around and there was still some left in the park as we wandered around but it was a stunning, sunny day, albeit cool. I wore my long johns all day so I guess I will keep them on for tonight as well. We are both glad of the van in which we can cope with these cold nights in comfort!
