Day 103, October 17th, 60.3km and 665m climb, Sargents to informal campground at Dome Lakes State Wildlife Area
This morning was definitely our coldest morning yet! Minus 4 degrees and it took all day for one of my squeezy 500ml drink bottles to defrost! It is also the first time we were a little bit cold in the tent so we will have to try and find another layer! It was a gorgeous morning though and we started with 20km of sealed downhill before turning onto gravel and starting to climb. That's my cycle shorts below, frozen overnight on the handlebars!

The scenery continues to amaze us with today predominantly open ranch land with cliffs and gullies and sparse trees. The route meandered up and we stopped for lunch half way up a climb and to dry out the tent. The sun was lovely and warm so things dried quickly. The fly still had ice on it when I pulled it from the bag!
After lunch we had a wee downhill, joined a sealed road for a couple of kilometers and then finished with 10km of gradual climb up to our campsite at 2800m. We are on the edge of a couple of wee lakes and there is a toilet with loo paper which always makes me happy!

Today we were both tired and we have two big days ahead of us. We have not had more than two days off at a time since leaving Vancouver so we are wondering if things are starting to catch up with us. We'll push through to Del Norte in a couple of days time and have a look at the weather and our options. A longer break might be in order!
