Day 95, climbing out of the Colorado River

Day 95, October 9th, 31.57km and 700m climb, Radium River Access campsite to Kremmling RV park

Oh boy was it cold this morning! A really heavy frost and the tent fly was so heavy and stiff it would never fit in the bag! The sun eventually reached us and the ice melted so we could pack it up before we left! All our bottles were frozen too but we managed to find some water for a coffee and hot chocolate.

The ride started out straight into a 10km climb followed by a 7km climb (there was a big downhill in the middle so we couldn't really call it continuous)! Needless to say the 27 layers of clothing we were wearing when we left camp were soon peeled off!

The route took us up out of the gorge where the Colorado River flows and over a pass toward Kremmling. We contemplated pushing on toward Ute Pass but we've done a fair whack of climbing over the past three days so decided an early finish was acceptable.  We are staying at the very nice Red Mountain RV Park in Kremmling and can highly recommend it. Very clean and well appointed and really nice hosts. The weather continues to be sunny and dry so we will keep on pushing south.

It is supposed to get down to minus 3 tonight so we are in bed early wrapped up warm. We'll head toward Ute Pass tomorrow.
