Day 91, October 5th, 37km via ute, 64.1km and 390m climb via bike, Ladder Ranch to Steamboat Springs

Yep, we hitched another ride. From Ladder Ranch, one of the teams was heading up toward Columbine to relocate some accommodation so we hitched a ride up the hill. This saved us a full day of riding and meant we could be in Steamboat Springs during business hours rather than at the weekend when it is a little harder to get some of the jobs done. To be fair, my cold has moved into my chest and I'm struggling a bit with the hills so this was a really good way to try and recover a bit more from that too. It was an excellent ride and we watched a flock of sheep being moved with their guard dogs. Each flock has what looks like 10 guard dogs that stay with the flock to guard them from predators like bears and wolves. Really big white dogs and amazing to watch.

It was a beautiful day, perfect riding conditions and when we did hop on the bikes in Columbine, we enjoyed the 60km through to Steamboat hugely. Stunning fall colours, little to no traffic most of the way, beautiful backroads, it was a day to restore our souls and remind us why we are here.

On arrival into Steamboat we popped into the Big Agnes headquarters and repair shop to get the zippers fixed on our tent fly. We had a good look around and also picked up some replacement pegs for the tent too. Cool place and cool people.

We are here for a couple of days and have grabbed a motel unit close to town. We need new rear tires and chains and will do some washing. A sleep in is also on order for the morning.
