Day 89, up and down and up

Day 89, October 3rd. 44.8km and 934m climb, informal campsite Sage Creek Road to Little Sandstone campsite

If we thought yesterday was hard, it had nothing on today! Our wee campsite was damp and cold this morning and we started the day by pushing our bikes through 100m of mud to the road and then we started to climb. The first climb was 9km which took forever as the headwind from yesterday persisted and it was cold too! Then the undulations started, with each uphill a granny gear climb. So we didn't gain any altitude today but climbed a lot!

We were pleased to find a sheltered spot for lunch and the wind died down as well, so although the undulations continued,  the riding was a lot more pleasant. The last 15km we rejoined the trees! After what felt like weeks of Sagebrush plains (although was probably only 10 days), it was so nice to be back in the bush again!

Our campsite is surrounded by beautifully coloured trees and we enjoyed a lovely hot meal and hot chocolate which we haven't been able to do for a while due to dry campsites. After several days of challenging conditions, this evening finally felt more enjoyable.

Tomorrow will be a pretty easy day before we start climbing again.
