Day 81, ice baby, ice

Day 81, September 25th, 57.68km and 234m climb, Whiskey Grove campsite to Warmshowers host Pinedale

It was a cold start this morning with both bikes and tent caked in ice! I wore long johns and winter trousers, merino t shirt, hoody, insulated vest and puffer jacket to bed and aside from my feet I was toasty. Gordon was a bit cold as he left his puffer jacket on the bike. We had a hot drink with breakfast to warm up and headed off down the valley.

It was another gorgeous day, warm and sunny. The surroundings are changing again now with wide sagebrush plains as far as the eye can see and water sources are decreasing. We have been traveling along the foot of the Wind River Range and will continue this for a couple more days to Atlantic City.

Tonight we are in Pinedale at a warmshowers host where we will take a day off to prepare for the next section. We need to think about water and food sources carefully and may need to increase our distances traveled each day to allow for safer spacing. So a bit of planning to do before we set off in a day or so.

Nice to be in a bed tonight with no Grizzly Bears in sight.
