Day 75, into Wyoming

Day 75, September 19th, 40km and 600m climb, Warm River campsite to stealth camp

A late start this morning! We woke up and there was a very heavy dew so we took our time to dry the tent before heading off. It was around 9.45 by the time we got riding.

It was straight into a 3km climb before the day settled into rolling hills with a predominantly upward focus. We also have our first view of the Grand Tetons. Pretty spectacular even from this far away.

After camping at 1700m last night, we are now back up to 2000m. The first part of the day took us through some lovely forest with the aptly named Grizzly Bear Gulch en route. We then hit some tar seal with farms and hay fields before reentering the forest. There was fresh Bear scat so we made plenty of noise!

After crossing into Wyoming,  we have found what's known as an 'informal campsite' beside a flowing creek for water. Interestingly,  even though there is no toilet here, there is a bear box which saves us hanging the bags. Yay! We have put our tent up about 100m from the Bear box and also did our cooking by the Bear box too. Let's hope it is a quiet night. I am very much looking forward to leaving Grizzly Bear country in a few days.

Tomorrow we hope to make Colter Bay which is the end of Section 2 of the Divide ride. We will have actually done 3 sections but for some reason, Canada is called Canada, not Section 1. Section 1 actually starts when you enter the USA. I believe this is because the original route started at the American border not in Canada.
