Day 50, August 25th, 58.8km and 851m climb, Big Fork warmshowers host to Cedar Creek campsite

After a lovely night of sleep in the RV, Valerie made fresh scones for breakfast along with coffee, juice, quiche and fruit. We departed well fed and happy. Thank you Valerie, you are a wonderful host!

After a quick detour to stock up on a couple of groceries, we started up the big climb of the day - a 10km, 560m climb up through classic Montana forest. We topped out just on lunch so stopped for bagels and a bottle of coke I had grabbed at the store. The downhill was marvelous!

At the bottom, we were faced with a reroute due to logging. We headed off and found ourselves on a fairly quiet sealed road for a few kilometers. The route then headed off on more forestry roads which we knew we were going to exit from down to a campsite back on the main road. We decided to stick to the main road and enjoyed 12km of sealed road to our stopping point for the night. The scenery was just the same either way!

We had just set our tent up when were reunited with our French Canadian friends who we had last seen at the Upper Whitefish Lake campsite a few days ago. Soon after that, the first of several thunderstorms rolled through so we hid in the tent for a while. Between storms we have managed to cook dinner and hang the food bags without getting wet. The lightening and thunder have been pretty spectacular!
