Day 51, August 26th, 55.4km and 630m climb, Cedar Creek campsite to Owl Packer campsite, Holland Lake
Today was a really nice ride. Once we left the campsite and shot down the road about 10km, we entered the forest and had a lovely ride as the road wound up and down through small valleys, swamps, lakes and climbs. We even had a short section of single track to keep us happy.

I should mention that last night we experienced the biggest thunderstorm to date. It was very close with fork lightening, cracking thunder and heavy rain. We survived unscathed and the tent stood up well. When we got up it had stopped raining and we managed to get breakfast done before it started up again. So it was riding in the rain for most of the morning. Our first real riding in the rain. Fortunately it was not cold and as mentioned above, the route was lovely. At lunchtime the rain had stopped and the sun was out so we managed to dry everything while we ate.

Tonight we are at Holland Lake, or at least close by. The loos have toilet paper and hand sanitizer and noone has come to collect money so we assume the site is free too. Last night though, a black bear broke into a car to get to the food so we have been ultra cautious about cooking, hanging and everything else this evening. Hopefully it will be a quiet night.
Tomorrow sounds challenging with some hike a bike as well. I felt tired today so hopefully the legs will hold up tomorrow!

Stunning photos as ever. Great reading. Yes, the storms up here in Kimberley have been pretty spectacular over the weekend, so I can only imagine what it was like in the tent.
Bravo.
