Days 23 and 24 rest days in Nelson BC
Day 25 July 31, Nelson to Grey Creek, 57km, 561m climb
Back on the road again after two restful days in Nelson at our Warmshowers house. During our 2 days off, we walked the dogs, did washing, rested up, went through the bikes and removed anything we didn't need (and immediately replaced it all with too much food!), read books and napped.

Now we're back on the road heading east. Today we started early as usual as the temperatures are set to hit 38 again today so we are sticking with our plan of riding until lunchtime then finding shade and water for the afternoon. Today was sealed all the way, undulating a bit but generally pleasant. At about the 35km mark, we jumped on the Kootenay Ferry which took us across Kootenay Lake. It was absolutely free! Stunning views everywhere we looked.

After the ferry, we trotted 10km down the road to Grey Creek where we have stopped at the Grey Creek campground. We will hunker down here for the afternoon and have an early night tonight in preparation for Grey Creek Pass which we will attempt tomorrow. This is a 2000m climb over 17km so likely to be a good push for us. We will also be out of range for 2 or 3 days as we make our way to Kimberley.
Oh yes, and today we hit the 1000km mark with over 8000m climbing since we started.

Crikey you two. That’s amazing!!! I’m quite tired just standing in an airport queue. Zero change in altitude!! What an adventure! Hope your days off-grid go well! XX
