Thursday 21 July, Hydraulic Lake campsite to Arlington Lakes campsite 25km, 12m climb.
Today was a gentle day, a bit of a sleep in then a 25km wander downhill along the trail to the next campsite. We arrived just on lunch, set up the tent and spent the afternoon swimming, reading and resting.
Often these quieter days are taken up with chores though. Doing washing, checking the bikes to make sure everything is well maintained, filtering and treating water and planning our next days including how much food we will need and how much power. We can go 4 days fully off grid but our consumption of books on our phone uses a whack of power so we need to recharge powerbanks at the same time as feeding ourselves. The odd shower is quite nice too, especially for those around us! So 4 days seems to be our limit. Doing such short distances might be challenging later in our trip though so it will be interesting to see how we get on.
