Day 48, Pacific Sojourn, June 3, Manusina Beach Fales to Vaiula Beach Fales, 23km

Just a short day today. We had planned a big day yesterday and 2 nights at Vaiula but heard it on good authority that Manusina was a great place to stop. We are so glad we did. Breakfast was outstanding and we were lulled into a late start. All good though, the only activity on our list today was To Sua Trench. No trip to Samoa is complete without visiting this spot apparently!

To Sua Trench is a deep hole in the ground that the sea flows into under the ground. It's the one you see on all the tourist brochures. We timed it perfectly as there was almost noone there and we had the place almost to ourselves. We clambered down the ladder and cooled off in the pool, it was truly stunning so well worth doing. If you look closely you will see us in the piccies.

We arrived at Vaiula just on lunch. As is our usual habit, we had stopped along the way to get some bread and fruit for lunch so had a relaxed lunch looking out across the Reef. I had a quick snorkel but there wasn't much to see. The Reef here is also still regenerating after the tsunami. Dinner was pleasant with good company. There were only 4 of us for dinner and a load of mosquitoes although the mosquitoes weren't such good company. Early to bed once the mozzies became too much.
