Days 26 and 27, Pacific Sojourn, May 12 and 13, GPS tracking
Yesterday I realised that we were actually here for closer to 2 months than 6 weeks as I kept telling everyone including myself. I was trying to figure out how we were managing to fit everything in that we had planned into the 6 weeks I thought we had and then realised it wouldn't. At the same time I simultaneously realised that we were here for longer than I thought. Not that that is at all concerning, more just kind of amusing. Quite where that all came from I'm not sure. We had a relatively quiet day aside from a trip to Apia to do some chores so perhaps my brain was just working overtime.
Today was a slightly busier day with a 5am start to help Lulu prepare breakfast for two clients leaving on the 8am ferry. I picked the clients up from Le Vasa Resort about 3km down the road and 6am and did their briefing over breakfast. At 7am, Jairus and I headed off to the ferry to get tickets for them and drop off their bags only to discover complete and utter mayhem at the ferry terminal. It's a long weekend with Monday a holiday for Mothers Day so lots of people trying to get across to Savaii. We managed to get tickets and because bikes load first, we managed to get our clients on board before anyone else. It was a little reminiscent of those news pictures we see of ferries sinking because they are overloaded! Thankfully they do seem to have some limits to loading.
Once they were gone, Jesse and I headed up into the hinterland to do some GPS tracking of some mountainbike routes that have become overgrown. We grabbed a couple of full suspension bikes and went on a bush bashing expedition. Beautiful riding and once cleared, the track up to Fish Mountain will be lovely.
We had expected some returning gueats early afternoon but because of the busy ferries they werent able to get on until 2pm so later than expected. As a result we didn't get out this afternoon except for a walk and a quick swim in the early evening.
