Day 5 Pacific Sojourn, 21 April, giant clams!

Today Jessie the guide and I took a group snorkeling to see the giant clams. I took absolutely no photos! This was because when we were kayaking yesterday I got it wet and the humidity means it has taken ages to dry.

The snorkeling was amazing with both giant clams and smaller ones. They are all different colours and shapes and live in a protected marine reserve managed by the local village. The snorkel out takes perhaps 5 minutes and then you are in the coral Reef and the clam beds. The coral was also in good shape with some different colours and loads of tropical fish darting in and out of the Reef. Apparently there are often turtles there too but none came to visit today. The trip finished with lunch of chicken and chips at a local resort before we dropped the group back at their accommodation and headed home.

Gosh our days are very busy and full but we are really enjoying it (although the heat can be very challenging at times!). Gordon's trip to Apia was really interesting and he and Ross managed to collect the last bikes from customs. No photos from him either!
