Day 3 Vanlife,  January 22, Cobb Valley

Another lovely morning although the wind was up and has stayed that way all day. Today we hiked up onto the Peel Ridge, 1400m ASL. this was over 650 vertical meters from the van over 4km so a bitnof a slog. Stunning views back down over the Cobb Reservoir, across to the backsides Mt Arthur and toward Peel Lake. We had thought we'd gondola to the lake but the wind was cold up top so we went to the viewpoint then found a sheltered spot for a light lunch.

Naturally it was a pretty quick trip down although my boots were giving me a bit of grief on one ankle. Probably had them done up a little too tight. I also managed to go for a slide right at the bottom on some grass and landed hard on my left hand. I think I bent the fingers back a bit, so I am feeling a bit sorry for myself this afternoon. Needless to say, it was a good excuse for a quiet afternoon with a good book. Gordon, on the other hand, did extremely well with his walking poles despite the rocky and steep terrain. I think he is quite pleased too.

This evening we have had a good wash using our solar showers which heated up beautifully in the sun. The wind is still up though so dinner, while cooked on the BBQ, was eaten inside out of the wind.

Tomorrow we will head back to civilisation and try for a mountain bike ride along the way.
