Day 99, beautiful climbing and tail winds

Day 99, October 13th, 78.24km and 719m climb, Gold Point Resort, Breckenridge to Hartsel cyclists only camping behind pub

Another lovely day of riding. Despite the luxury of our condo, neither of us slept well. It just seems too hot inside and we can't seem to cool the rooms down! And there I was thinking we could get used to glamping, perhaps not! So we woke a little groggy but not frosty!

We started by heading back down 200m vertical to pick up the Boreas Pass Road again. What a glorious climb up rail trail gradient to 3500m - our highest elevation to date. A lot of the trees this high have already lost their colour but the scenery is still stunning. The train track was developed back in the late 1800s and the last train passed through in 1938.

A quick downhill brought us to Como before lunch so we decided to take advantage of the tail wind and pushed through to Hartsel. It was predominantly downhill and the tail wind pushed us through to the main road. The last 7km on the road were a bit of a grovel though as we turned into the wind and there was no verge!  Still, it was pretty short in the scheme of things and we pulled into the pub around 3.30pm. We are set up out the back of the pub and are looking forward to a cold night again!
