Day 98, October 12th, 40km and 678m climb, Luxury Inn and Suites Silverthorne to Gold Point Resort, Breckenridge
Today was a relatively relaxed day, 40km of sealed cycle path between Silverthorne and Breckenridge plus a couple of kilometers up toward Boreas Pass. It feels a bit like we have gone from bikepacking to flashpacking as tonight we have blown the budget again with a night in a condo high above Breckenridge. We are sleeping at around 3100m tonight, albeit in a queen sized bed with sheets instead of the usual tent. Ah well, back to normal tomorrow.

Our first stop of the day was REI where we grabbed a couple of essentials (REI is a large outdoor retailer and even had my details still on file!) and our last stop was the supermarket to stock up for the next few days. After the supermarket the gradual climb up from Silverthorne turned into a more sustained uphill as we headed up the pass. The irony of today's ride is that tomorrow we have to go back down to go back up over the pass!
There is snow on the top of Peaks 7, 8 and 9 at Breckenridge but nothing on the lower slopes. I skied there once or twice many years ago but nothing looks familiar.
Gordon is enjoying these shorter riding days but we need to keep on going to make the most of the weather which continues to hold.
