Day 59, September 3rd, 50km and 652m climb, Boulder to Lowland campsite.
Today was super hot! 35 degrees this afternoon kept us cooking. The morning though, was cool. I slept on the floor in the bike barn and Gordon under the porch. Although not dewy, it was still cold and I didn't have enough extras to put on overnight. Lesson learnt.
Today's ride was a solid 45km of uphill before the first opportunity to glide downhill. However, we did have a pleasant interlude in a wee town called Basin. We stopped to send a message and while waiting for a reply, we found a diner waiting to make us a second breakfast. Gordon had a skillet with 2 eggs and bottomless coffee while I had the most delicious French toast I've ever had!

Back on the road the temperature started to climb as we did. As we get further south the tree cover is becoming more sparse so shade was limited. I really struggle in the sun while Gordon seems to do ok so at least one of us retains a sense of humor in the heat! At about 2.30pm we pulled into the campsite for a late lunch and to rehydrate. There is a well and pump for water which is cold and delicious. Eventually we put the tent up, I repaired my sleeping bag liner which had a rip in it and we did some planning for the coming days. Interestingly, in the last 5 days we have averaged 55km and 829m of climb per day which is the most climbing we have done in a 5 day period by quite a lot!

Tomorrow will be a shorter day into Butte where we may take a rest day.
