Day 31, quite a long, but beautiful, day

Day 31, 6 August, 75.5km and 709m climb, Kootenay River stealth camp to Marble Canyon campground.

Quite a long day today. Another slow start due to the cold but once the sun rose on our campsite we started to warm up and move a little more quickly. We climbed out of the campsite, around the gate and back onto the road. Within 3 or so kilometers we were back on the tar seal. A quick dive into some single track led us to a formal campsite, some flush toilets and some potable water - quite the luxury!

From here it was a gradual uphill all day, intermingled with lots of stops for photos and sightseeing, the views were spectacular all day. A rather odd lodge in the middle of nowhere provided some potato chips and cold drinks that gave us the pick-me-up we needed to push onto the National Park campground we are staying in tonight. We managed to snaffle the final campsite thanks to Mark who let us know where it was. We subsequently had a great conversation about bikes, travel and a whole lot of other things with him and his wife Nancy after dinner.

During dinner, Andy arrived on his Priority 600 with Pinion gearbox and we are sharing the campsite with him. He rode up from Radium Hot Springs on the road which has a good climb early on that we managed to avoid due to taking the gravel option. He was pretty knackered! It's the first bike we've seen that also has the Pinion gearbox.

One final big climb in the morning then downhill to Banff for a couple of days.
