Day 10, Vanlife, January 29, Nelson
It was overcast with the threat of rain again when we woke this morning. At least the wind had died down and we had a relatively quiet night. We has thought the rudder on the boat in the yard at the back of us was going to squeak and bang all night, lulling us into believing we were on board a boat. Fortunately it didn't eventuate and we woke to find we were still in the van.
After brekky, I hopped out of the van and headed off on a walk back toward Pohara. As soon as I could, I jumped onto the beach and did a fabulous 10km loop along the beach, around an island and up an estuary. It was a wildlife reserve too, so lots of wading birds were hanging out wading. About 3/4s of the way along, the heavens opened and I got drenched. At this point I called in the troops and got Gordon to come and pick me up on the way. A quick strip in the van and some dry clothes and we were on our way back to Nelson.
A visit to mum to say hi, do the laundry and have showers before heading to the Greenacres Golf Course where we are parked up for the night in complete solitude. It's raining again but we are dry and warm in the van.
